EDF offers internships and fellowships for students and recent graduates in a variety of programs and departments throughout the organization. The ultimate goal of our internship and fellowship program is to provide high-quality experiences (including relevant projects and opportunities for networking) that form the foundation for any individual who is serious about pursuing an environmental career.
Overall Function
The Data Research & Entry Intern, Executive Office will primarily assist the Project Manager, Corporate Governance & Board Relations on the projects listed below. This position requires the ability to work with multiple departments at EDF including Legal and Compliance, the Executive Office, and Development, as well as, programs such as Climate, Health, Oceans, and others. This position also requires the applicant to work with confidential information. Tact, discretion, judgment and the ability to function in a confidential capacity are required.
The primary purpose of this position is data entry related to Board Relations and Operations. This position also includes projects related to EDF’s internal Social Activities Committee.
Key Responsibilities
Tasks will include but are not limited to:
Resolutions & Minutes Database.
Search through files for board resolutions and board minutes that have not been uploaded to our database.
Read through and tag resolutions and minutes with appropriate information for filtering and searchability and upload missing items to the database.
Board Book Database.
Search through files to find previous board books that have not been uploaded to our database.
Tag board books with appropriate information for filtering and searchability and upload them to the database.
Board Tenure Research.
Review board lists within EDF’s annual reports starting from 1970 - present, recording start and end dates for board members.
Create a “Gift Registry” for retiring board members.
Input previous gift details.
Develop a list of 10 - 15 new gift ideas.
Research committee charters and write a draft charter for the Social Activities Committee.
Research recruitment tactics for increasing employee engagement in the committee.
College undergraduate (junior or senior), currently enrolled and will be a student in Fall 2019.
Trustworthy and able to work independently at times.
Strong writing and research skills required.
Ability to stay organized, meet deadlines and maintain a pro-active attitude.
Ability to work with confidential information in a professional manner.
Computer literate in Microsoft Office (Outlook, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Familiarity with the design software, Canva, a plus.
Interest in nonprofit and board operations.
